Doom Patrol #2 This Week!

Hey all!

The Source has a nice little sneak peek inside the second issue of Doom Patrol. Unfortunately, the Source also says the book will be out on September 9th, which won't be true here in the States, due to the Labor Day holiday. Look for it at your favorite comics facility on September 10 instead.

Elasti-Girl Friday 11

Friday! Friday! Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiday!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I wasn't so sure this week would have a Friday. I started off under the weather (and the weather has been craptacular here in Michigan lately) on Monday and the week only got yuckier from there.

But I made it!

Anyhoo, I'm cheating my way through this week's Elasti-Girl Friday and hopefully expanding the knowledge of a reader or two at the same time. Rita's on the image below, so it counts, right?

The Source - specifically Alex Segura - dropped another Doom Patrol related sneak peek on us today. Take a lookie:

So what is it? I dunno. I'm going to guess it's either:
a: an advertisement for the upcoming DP series (although Giffen's note of "cover" shoots that theory in the bum)
b: a variant cover to issue #1
or
c. the cover to issue #4.

Wait, did I say the cover to #4? Yes I did. Yes, yes indeed, I did. But DC has only solicited Doom Patrol #1 and Doom Patrol #2. Yes, Rob Kelly, they have only solicited those two, but I can assure you this is NOT the cover to Doom Patrol #3. At least not the MAIN cover.Let's just say I've seen visions.

Speaking of visions, this week has two - TWO - comic cons going on! There's certain to be some Doom Patrol-ish announcements made and as soon as I'm aware of them, I'll post links and images and news.

Oh yeah! It's also Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to all you groovy daddy-os out there.

The Source - curse you Alex Segura for your behind the scenes awesomeness ! - is offering up a peek into the world of the Metal Men, the co-feature set to share staples with the Doom Patrol.

This book - Doom Patrol co-featuring Metal Men - is far and away the greatest thing to happen to my comics collecting interests in years! Maguire was the first artist I followed when I got back into comics (of course, I followed Byrne, Perez, Garcia-Lopez and Art Adams as well) when I met his work with Justice League #1.

Giffen + Clark + Doom Patrol = win.

Giffen + Clark + Doom Patrol + Metal Men + DeMatteis + Maguire = winner winner chicken dinner!

I love that DC is going to put these two franchises together and give them a chance to shine. More importantly, I am really keen on the fact that the talent locked in are THE right choices for these characters all the way around!

Personally, I don't see how they cannot succeed with this title.

Well Newsarama has their August sneaks up, so I guess it's safe to give this away.

Some subtle, but noteworthy differences between the two: the "background" cover and Rita's eyes and costume most noticeably. I know the version I've been giving peeks from is NOT the final version. As we all know, the version shown with the solicits very well might not be the final version either. We'll find out for certain in March!
