Doom Patrolling at the Comic Shop

No, you didn't miss an extra-szied, double-gatefold, foil-covered issue of Doom Patrol this week, but you may have missed some Doom Patrol goodness of a Silver Age flavor.

DC released the second volume of the Showcase Presents Doom Patrol yesterday. I personally passed on it for now, as I only recently got the fourth Archives volume.

Additionally, the DP makes an appearance in the fourth issue of the DCUniverse Legacies series, written by Len Wein and drawn by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez.
I'll be reviewing the latter over at CBR.

  1. I think I'm going to have to start classing myself as 'Silver Age' :D That cover is just all kinds of awesome.

Also love Rita's getup from back in that day too - impractical? Sure, what when she's eight stories tall who is going to argue!

  2. I flipped through the Showcase at the shop yesterday, and sure enough, it does contain the balance of the Silver Age run of the Patrol. So for two volumes you can get the entire series in black & white! Not bad at all!

I'd also like to mention that you can get entire 66 issue run of the original, and in my opinion BEST, X-Men in 3 black & white volumes. Then you can imagine all sorts of original dp vs X-Men stories, mwuahaha!

  3. Love that Showcase cover! So cool!

    The Irredeemable Shag

  4. I will have to get that book - love the cover and have the original issue it's from, but not much else from the original run.

  5. Thats one of my favourite covers from the DP, glad its available for cheap to the masses but I just got the 5th Archive so I don't think I'll be downgrading anytime soon lol.
