Doom Patrol (v4) #1

Hot dog stand at a beach, eh, Paul?

A mean Jimmy Olsen. Not really, but certainly close enough.

. . .and Doom Patrol (v4) #2.

Gimp Larry with a wig
They asked for it, I tweeted it at them, but here's my take on Gimp Larry with 70s hair, courtesy of some Photoshop and some Bob Ross.

Episode 108: Not in Kansas Any More But We Still Have Dorothy…OR Are We There Yet?!

HUZZAH! Mike and Paul are back at it again, and for a few minutes  I AM CAUGHT UP!!!

Here's the latest from the bean of Pod

We're back with more Doom Patrol goodness! Join Mike, Paul, Hotcakes and Fabineez for about 30 minutes of good audio, and another 30 minutes of an annoying clipping sound that unexpectedly appeared during editing. Not recording - because we would've stopped until it was resolved - but editing. CURSE YOU, TECH GODS. Anyway, thanks and apologies in advance for putting up with it. We loves you guys.
Down on Derington Way - 10:46
Doom Clock - 16:48
Doomsplaining - 21:56 - We return to volume 2 of the Doom Patrol, covering issues 80 and 81 from rachel Pollack, The Pander Brothers, Ted McKeever, Stuart Chaffetz, and John E Workman Jr!
Mailbag O Doom - 45:57 - We read your responses to the question, "Who is your favourite fictional hero of colour?"
In addition to a fine salute, the fellas talked about stuff that looks like this:

Dorothy the Duck-Billed, Ape-Faced Girl

I wonder if they ever considered calling Dorothy "Mad Libby"?

And now for Doom Patrol (v2) #81:

Giffen-y

. . .and there you have it, my friends: More Pollack-y Doom Patrol. What are your thoughts on the series to date?

Before I sign off, even though the guys have most likely recorded Waiting for Doom #109, here's the

WFD Episode 107: As In One of the Circles of Hell OR First Degree Byrne

HUZZAH!!! Time to start BYRNE-ing! Here's what the Podbean has about the guys tackling John Byrne's lead-in to Doom Patrol (volume 4) from JLA in 2004:

It's a new episode, taking a look at a new era, featuring the deubt of a new gimmick, the Doom Radio! LET'S GET PATROLLING!
Down on Derington Way - 8:49Doom Clock - 10:15Doomsplaining - 13:53 - We take our first nervous steps into an era we've never covered before...save for giving the entire run a brief recap back in Episode 7 (February 2015) because SOMEONE at the time refused to buy/read it...anyway, what was I saying? Oh. Yes. This week we take a look at the 'Tenth Circle' story from JLA (2004) issues 94 through 99, by John Byrne, Chris Claremont, Jerry Ordway, Tom Orzechowski and David Baron! The intro to Byrne's dP run proper!Mailbag O Doom - 45:24 - We read your responses to the question, "What name in comic do you have problems pronouncing?"

So here's the visuals:

The X-Men strike!

Vortex vortexting.

Cliff being comfortable.

Bondage Larry. . .

. . . frightens Cliff.

A while back, near the launch of the Rebirth era, I planned to dive into this series under the banner of ReByrne. I still plan to give this series a read, but at this point, maybe I'll just add my thoughts to the episode summaries as Paul and Mike hit this series.

Question of the Week
Who is your favorite fictional hero of color?

The answers came to us via Episode 108, which held one major surprising omission. No one chose Lando Calrissian. The question was not comic hero, but fictional hero.

I'm hoping to get fully caught up in the next day or so. Just in time for Episode 109. Doom well, my friends!
