Super Hero High (or Elasti-Girl Friday 24)

Keeping it short, as I've got a trio of reviews for a pair of sites to knock down, some NYCC2015 news to ingest, and a football game to go watch, but in case you haven't heard, DC is throwing the marketing ideas at the wall to see what sticks.

One of those ideas is DC Super Hero Girls. Seven of DC's more recognizable and diverse characters have been selected to lead the charge on this idea, but the universe behind it seems much larger, trying to embrace more of the DC Universe than just Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Batgirl, Katana, and Bumblebee. Yes, Doom Patrol's very own (although she was a Titan first and more memorably) Karen Beecher has made the leap into a major merch push.

You can catch the full (is it really full?) video here, along with links to the characters, products, games and whathaveyou. BUT, the one thing I noticed, coming from the DC Super Hero Girls line, is our very own Elasti-Girl. It's not as tough a brain teaser as "Where's Waldo?", but it takes a little dedication to find (presumably) Rita in the image below, taken from the aforementioned clip.

And welcome back, Gal Fridays. I've missed you.

JLU - for YOU!

While we've all been waiting for the Doom Patrol to get their own series back, DC has been letting us wait. Thankfully, Jeff Parker has other ideas in mind. The DP have made a number (that number, so far, being 2) of appearances in Parker's Justice League United, with the promise for Robotman to show up as part of the squad.

CBR has a nice little interview with Parker, which you can check out right here. Said interview is where I borrowed this lovely image - a glorious Tony Harris cover for Justice League United #14 featuring our guy, Cliff!

Added bonus? Creature Commandos. Looks like it might be the New 52(ish) version of the Commandos, which I am completely OK with, but man. Harris covers. Gotta love 'em!

I can't believe it's not Doom Patrol!

. . .but at least it IS Cyborg! Coming soon. Very soon.

Cyborg has some Doom Patrol connections, but this'll knock the cobwebs off MGA80 here.

Am I dreaming?

Because this is certainly what dreams would be made of. From the September solicits for DC Comics (the link'll take you to CBR) comes this gem:

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED #13 Written by JEFF PARKER Art by PAUL PELLETIER and ROB HUNTER Cover by TONY HARRISOn sale SEPTEMBER 9 • 32 pg, FC, $3.99 US • RATED T Guest artist Paul Pelletier joins the JLU for a special storyline that sees Stargirl and the team of Steel, Robotman, Batgirl and Vandal Savage enter a war zone that’s at once very familiar and utterly weird. Plus: the long awaited return of a legendary DC Comics hero.

I've never been the biggest fan of John Henry Irons, but I suppose he'd make more sense in this team-up that Henry Heywood III.

And for funsies, here's the cover.

Nice bit from Tony Harris that seems to depict Swamp Thing and Poison Ivy (neither of which is mentioned above) I cannot wait to see Pelletier sinking his pencils into this team!

Waiting for Doom!

It's been darn near a year since my last post, and I make no apologies for it! At least I'm back before a new Doom Patrol series! Which, of course, there isn't one.

What there is, however, is a Doom Patrol podcast! Mike and Paul are two guys who put the Aussie in awesome and have taken to the earbuds, putting their passion and interest in the Doom Patrol into listeners' ears EVERY WEEK!

Check them out and give 'em a listen.
